Vierwaldtstaettersee
lake constance
Vierwaldtstaettersee is a few kilometers away from Lake Zug. This lake includes Urner See or Lake Uri. The area is hilly and pleasant, very appropriate for hiking and biking. Urner See is an inlet-like watercourse between massive rock walls. It is exceptionally scenic.

Hiking and Biking
There is a well-maintained hiking trail from Mount Rtli to Brunnen near Vierwaldtstaettersee. The people of Switzerland received this gift from the cantons on the occasion of the seven-century anniversary of the Rtli Oath. The route offers splendid views, weaving through woodlands along the river, across meadows and by well-positioned picnic areas. You can take a relaxing break at the benches and fountains. The tour begins at Rutli meadow, which is accessible by boat from Lucerne. The hiking time is 11 hours, and the distance 35 km. It is a challenging route but well worth it. The elevation difference is 400 m. This trip is possible from May to October. You will pass through Bauen, Fuelen, Sisikon and other areas famous for their tantalizing cuisine. After walking through thick woodlands you will reach Seelisberg, a famous spa resort and well-known pilgrimage site. The lake will be at your feet here. The town of Brunnen, enshrouded in myth, lies across the lake. An attraction here is the historical Beroldingen Castle. After several hours you will come to Tell's Chapel with its historic murals, bringing to life the exploits of Swiss national hero William Tell. Urner See is encircled by snow-capped peaks. There are many villages, railways, and bike paths in the area. This region is a haven for cyclists. On the western edge of this lake there are several tunnels with bike paths. Cars do not pass through. Some of the tunnels are quite dark indeed. Others have amazing openings hewn into the rock itself, offering views of the vertical shore opposite you. These openings are all that remains of earlier road works. You can also cycle through snow shed protrusions, some tilted up with planted forests on top. These pathways are suitable for mountain biking and cycling. Their smooth surfaces slice through the mountain rocks. You can bike around the perimeter of Urner Lake, but you should do so only if you are very fit. It is quite pleasant, but at one point there are some steps 900 to be exact, up which you must carry your bike. Please do keep this in mind.
