THE TATRAS
The Tatra Mountains constitute the highest mountain range of the Carpathian Mountains that spreads out across the territory of Poland (with the Rysy Peak) and Slovakia (with the Gerlachovsky Stit). The Tatras consist of three parts: the High Tatras, the Western Tatras and the Bielskie Tatras. The former part is characterized by steep peaks whereas the latter ones offer romantic panoramas and pine forests.
The most popular ski resort of the Tatras is Zakopane, which offers numerous opportunities of active rest. The town, as the centre of winter sports in Poland, features runs for experienced skiers as well as slopes for beginners.
