The Moelltaler glacier - the only glacier resort in the south of Austria tempts with great snow conditions and modern infrastructure. The year-round ski station on routes leading to the top of Schareck (3122 m.a.s.l.) offers varied routes and excellent views. In good weather you can see even the Dolomites. In the next valley there is a very good resort with rich tradition - Ankogel.
Two ski resorts and the two main towns of the region. Closer to the terrain on the glacier is the town of Flattach, from which it’s less than 9 km to the lower station of the lifts. 15 km further lies Mallnitz, which is almost 4 km away from the Ankogel station. Most routes on the glacier will be enjoyed by the whole family, sports skiers will find their place on the Schareck 4 black route and on Eissee, approved by FIS. Snowboarders have the glacial snow park at their disposal and off-piste lovers will find a nice variety of ski runs off the beaten track.
The Ankogel station also is quite diverse. The wide blue and red slopes lie next to more difficult, black sections. The connected no. 1 and 2 red routes are especially noteworthy, which together form a 7.5 km trail from the summit down to the valley.
