Breuil-Cervinia - Valtournenche is one of those ski areas, where you can be sure of excellent conditions for all winter sports throughout the season. Although the local resorts cannot boast a large number of challenging trails, its offer of intermediate and easy routes attracts many skiers of all skill levels. In total, the Breuil-Cervinia region offers over 180 km of trails, but thanks to the connection with the Swiss resort of Zermatt, the total length of available ski runs amounts to 313 km.

The Breuil-Cervinia - Valtournenche region is a high-altitude ski area. The larger and more well-known resort of Breuil-Cervinia lies at an altitude of 2050 m above sea level, and the trails on the Italian side go up to 3480 m.a.s.l. The area consists mostly of wide red and blue trails in open spaces, with fantastic views of Matterhorn. In the case of bad weather, skiers head to the forest trails, which belong to the Valtournenche resort, once the main town of the region. The 15-km trail from Monte Rosa to Valtournenche is remarkable - it’s a good quality red trail descending a total of 2,000 meters.

Lovers of off-piste don’t have good conditions in this region. Off-piste is possible only by using a helicopter as a means of transport, which is associated with high costs. After buying an extended lift pass you can ski on the Swiss side in the area of Stockhorn. The Apres ski offer is not a very attractive one, although tourists can choose from a number of interesting proposals. Indoor swimming pools are available in Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche, as well as ice rinks, a fitness center and several restaurants, pubs and discotheques.

Breuil-Cervinia - Valtournenche ski resort reviews

Snow conditions are usually good, because of the height of the slopes. At this time we didn't get any fresh snow, is why I marked fair. With fresh snow it would be excellent. Cervinia – Zermatt offer easily reachable off-piste opportunities. All the slopes were every day freshly groomed and fine to ride, as the snow parks in both sides. Village life includes some bars and restaurants also one nightclub. So there are everything, but in low quantity. PS! I know one English couple, who have travelled to Cervinia for 29 winters now!
We had the international ski pass so were able to go over to Zermatt area, which was great. Last lift times for connections back to Italy were always clearly signposted. There were hardly any queues at lifts and no crowds on pistes, which was great. It would be helpful, if the hotel reception had an up to date list of opened and closed lifts/pistes (weather/wind dependent). I was told to search on the website. Otherwise perfect, thank you!
The area is extremely beautiful, with great view on Matternhorn. The infrastructure is a bit outdated in comparison to the best, newest European resorts. Anyway very good in general. Definetely plan to come again.
Cervinia is very snowy and windy. So some of the pistes may be closed because of the wind or snow. Also Italian part is not always very fast to be cleand for best skiing.
Nightlife is poor, the resort is more oriented for family holidays, couple bars that one can find are simple and almost different words - boring.
