Austria offers the largest choice of skiing areas based on glaciers with Hintertux offering close to 60 km of runs as the first choice. Soelden ski resort opens early with the opening FIS competition held usually in third week of October can be a good choice. Glacier ski areas of Pitztal, Stubaital, Kaprun and Kaunertal are safe bets, too.

Late November is the time when snowfalls are virtually guaranteed across the Alps, and if there is not much snow falling, snowmaking facilities come into play.
