Austria offers the largest choice of skiing areas based on glaciers with Hintertux offering close to 60 km of runs as the first choice. Soelden ski resort opens early with the opening FIS competition held usually in third week of October can be a good choice. Glacier ski areas of Pitztal, Stubaital, Kaprun and Kaunertal are safe bets, too.

In France, the glacier Tignes is the best option to start your ski season in early and mid November. If you plan to go skiing closer to the end of November, Val Thorens can be a good option - 99% of this ski resort’s terrain is located higher than 2000 metres above sea level.

Switzerland offers six glacier areas including Saas Fee, Glacier 3000 near Les Diablerets, the ski resort of Engelberg, glacier area in Laax and more than 30 kilometres of runs on the Diavolezza glacier near St. Moritz. However, we believe the glacier ski resort of Zermatt - Matterhorn is the best choice in Switzerland for before season skiing.

Fans of Italy should look in the direction of Val Senales - Maso Corto ski resort - country’s only winter glacier area and Cervinia which is connected to the Swiss Zermatt - Matterhorn.

Late November is the time when snowfalls are virtually guaranteed across the Alps, and if there is not much snow falling, snowmaking facilities come into play. Basically, any ski resort the goes all the way up to 3000 metres above sea level and higher is a safe bet. There are more than 30 ski resorts in the Alps.
